Inspirational Tuesdays

Well, I've been really slacking with posting my inspiration on Mondays, but like I said in the last inspirational post, the week isn't over.  This coming weekend is Resurrection Sunday. I know it's fun to enjoy all the festivities Easter has to offer, but let's not forget the real reason why we celebrate this day. Remember that it's all about Jesus Christ.

Romans 6:23 (CEV)
"Sin pays off with death.  But God's gift is eternal life given by Jesus Christ our Lord."

2 Strand Twist (Protective Style)

This week has been a productive and relaxing week.  The kids stayed a week in Atlanta, Ga with their grandparents for spring break. I was so torn. A part of me didn't want them to go and the other half couldn't wait to spend time with my hubby. Before we took the kids to ATL, I decided that I would do a protective style on my daughter.  Since I can't braid, I like to do two strand twists.  I honestly can't tell you how many twists I did on my daughter's hair, but it felt like it took forever!! It took me 4 hours to finish her hair, and she was such a big girl!  I was pleased with the results and I will definitley try this again for the summer.

She wanted me to style the top half like a princess. :)

Be the Light ( Inspirational Mondays)

Happy Tuesday!!!

Well, the week isn't over and we can still make this week a success! Today, I want to talk about being the light.  It's so important to let your light shine. We can quote scriptures all day long, but if you are not being the light, it will be hard to get someone to believe. Action speaks louder than words!  There are so many cruel things going around in this world, but let us be encouraged to know that the darker the world, the brighter our light should shine.  Remember, you may be the only Jesus they see.

Matthew 5:14-16 (CEV)
"You are the light for the whole world.  A city built on top of a hill cannot be hidden, and no one lights a lamp and puts it under a clay pot. Instead, it is placed on a lampstand, where it can give light to everyone in the house.  Make your light shine, so others will see the good you do and will praise your Father in heaven."

Wash Day

Last week was wash day and so far I'm enjoying my braid out.  Below are pictures of the step by step process of what I do on wash days.

Here's what I used:
Shea Moisture shampoo
Herbal Essence Hello Hydration
Castor Oil
Aubrey Organics Honey Suckle Rose
The Generic Paul Mitchell The Conditioner
I just finished washing the hair and now it's time to apply the Aubrey Organics and Castor oil.

I like to use my fingers to finger comb each section.

After I apply the Aubrey Organics and oil, I twist each section and pin it back. I like to sit under the dryer for 30 minutes. Once I'm done with the dryer, I rinse each section with cool hair.

I braided the hair and this is the day after. Time to unravel these braids to see what the outcome is!

Love my results!! I used a dime size amount of the leave in conditioner and a small amount of oil.
Looks like I was photo bombed!

Love and Marriage ( Inspirational Mondays)

Happy Monday!!

My husband and I are doing a weekly devotion on Love and  Marriage and I am very excited about what God is doing in us.  The passage challenged us to set aside the poor behaviors that always get in the way of a healthy marriage and put on the Character of Christ.  We prayed together that God will give us determination to put his Character on again and again daily. I encourage you to pray with your spouse and work together to put on the character of God. What is the hardest for you to get rid of and the one Godly trait that is the hardest to clothe yourself in?

Colossians 3:-1-9 (CEV)
"You have been raised to life with Christ.  Now set your heart on what is in heaven, where Christ rules at God's right side.  Think about what is up there, not about what is here on earth.  You died, which means that your life is hidden with Christ, who sits beside God.  Christ gives meaning to your life, and when he appears, you will also appear with him in glory.  Don't be controlled by your body.  Kill every desire for the wrong kind of sex.  Don't be immoral or indecent or have evil thoughts.  Don't be greedy, which is the same as worshipping idols.  God is angry with people who disobey him by doing these things.  And this is exactly what you did, when you lived among people who behaved in this way.  But now you must stop doing such things.  You must quit being angry, hateful, and evil.  You must no loner say insulting or cruel things about others.  And stop lying to each other.  You have given up your old ways of life with its habits."

Allowance for Kids

This week we decided that we would start an allowance for the kids.  This will allow them to understand the importance of savings and also learn how to count money.  The amount they receive will be determined by the age they are.  My son is six, so he will receive 6.00 a week.  My daughter will be 4 in a May, so we will give her 4.00 a week.  We used mason jars and spray painted the jars with chalk board spray paint and let them use chalk markers to decorate the jars.  So, the goal is to not spend our money on toys for them, but to let them start making the decision about if they should save or spend.  Also, they will have to give towards church too!! The kids are very excited about their money jars and we are too!!

Waking up with God (Inspirational Mondays)

Well, it's almost Tuesday, but it's never too late for an inspiring word.  Tonight I want to talk about the importance of talking to God in the morning.  On my way to work, I make it a habit to spend time with God.  It's so important to start the day with prayer because you can have such an awesome encounter with him and it's a great start to your morning.  My day feels incomplete if I don't pray in the morning.   If it's just a simple prayer telling him thank you, that's better than not saying nothing at all. I encourage you to start praying when you wake up or on your way to work , if you aren' already doing so.  When you wake with God, you take him with you too.

Matthew 18:18-20 CEV
"I promise you God in heaven will allow whatever you allow on earth, but God will not allow anything you don't allow.  I promise that when any two of you on earth agree about something you are praying for, my Father in heaven will do it for you.  Whenever two or three of you come together in my name, I am there with you."
